The DEEP, DRAFT FORWARD profile of the EZZY FREERIDE actually looks
similar to a cammed sail, but the mechanics of a camber are REPLACED by a REFINED SEAM-SHAPING DEVELOPMENT by DAVID EZZY.

>>>POWER>>>SPEED>>>FASTER JIBES>>>CONTROL>>>
ALL IN AN EXQUISITE FEEL and CONTROL.................

Power-Speed-Comfort No-cam tested up to 44.9mph!

The Ezzy Freeride has cracked the conundrum of how to achieve a sail with the speed, power and stability associated with cam sails but without using any cams at all. The deep, draft forward profile actually looks similar to a cambered sail, but instead of using the mechanics of a camber to put the shape into the sail, the Freeride shape comes from a refined technique of seam shaping and Endobatten construction. This sail took the no-cam performance freeride market by storm last year and incorporates refinements for this early release ’09 model. David Ezzy improved low-end power, top end speed, decreased sail weight and improved the trimming guides. It’s built to the highest standards of any sail on the market. This sail is easy to rig, sail and jibe and is built to deliver power, stability, speed and amazingly comfortable rides for years of high performance use.

Specific Improvements to '09 Freeride:
- Improved low-end power.
- Better top end speed.
- Lighter weight.
- Better trimming guides.

The Ezzy Freeride Features:
- Spectra X-film sail panels
- RBS Epoxy battens
- Small vinyl window
- Double taped and double sewn panels
- Ezzy designed Downhaul pulley tack (removeable)
- Super thick mast pad
- New Outhaul and downhaul trim gauge
- RDM and standard mast compatibility
- EVERY sail is rigged, tuned and inspected before it’s shipped.

David Ezzy's additional comments on the 2009 Freeride design:
A sail that's easier to rig, and without the cams, the Freeride flips quicker in jibes. That, simply put, means a faster jibe.
The Freeride is built to last, so it contains no monofilm. Stitch for stitch, material for material, the Freeride is built exactly like its cousin, the Ezzy Wave. The Freeride sail body panels are made with our Spectra X film. The foot uses an even stronger, closer spaced, puncture-proof Spectra X film. The vinyl window offers superior visibility and can be cleaned for the life of the sail. And the Freeride employs our removable, triple pulley system which makes downhauling very easy.
Tuning the Freeride is a snap. For setting the downhaul, there are visual indicators on the leech which show you exactly how much downhaul to apply. For setting the outhaul, the Freeride has three clew guide cords, one for light wind, one for medium wind and one for high wind. All you do is set your boom to the length of the guide cord and then outhaul to the end of the boom.
Finally, our quality is second to none. That’s why we rig each and every sail in our factory. And while we’re rigging, we set the adjustable top to the correct mast length, we adjust the battens with their correct tension then, we carefully inspect the sail. Only once it passes our rigorous inspection does it go into the bag for shipping on to you.

Versatile- powerful -dependable Cam Performance
This refined two-cam sail delivers great performance with chameleon qualities. For ’08 David Ezzy tweaked the leech tension and center batten area draft profile. The leech is slightly looser vs. '07 and the center batten area is slightly flatter. This combination has produced improved low-end power and top end speed performance. It has more shape in the forward section of the sail vs. most other 2-cam sails and utilizes its outhaul adjustment range to modify wind strength performance. The draft forward design makes it very powerful and stable while its outhaul settings can maximize light wind power or high-wind speed. It has two removable cams, one above and one below the boom within a narrow mast sleeve. The removable camber options allow you to dictate sail performance qualities to suit your needs. Also, Ezzy’s unique universal cam system allows you to custom fit the cams to your specific mast diameter. The Infinity is a beautifully constructed, stable sail that delivers fantastic light to strong wind power and speed with meticulous construction for years of dependable performance!

Have you ever wondered why Ezzy Sails has such a loyal following of hardcore windsurfers?
Try an Ezzy and the answer becomes obvious.

For 2008, the Ezzy Wave SE will take you down the road to sailing nirvana. The first thing you will notice about the 2008 Ezzy Wave SE is the extremely wide wind range designed into the sail and accessed through the outhaul. In high wind, just pull more on the outhaul and the profile flattens to give a locked, stable feeling. If you want more power for some light wind sailing, ease the outhaul and you get a deep and powerful light-air sail. Next, you will notice the sail’s extremely balanced and soft feeling that allows you to focus on your next move rather than on what the sail is doing. Finally, you’ll notice our proven construction. The main sail panels are made of ultradurable Spectra X-film, and the foot is constructed of an even stronger Ezzy-designed Spectra X-film. The clear vinyl window will neither tear nor scratch, giving a lifetime of great visibility and strength.
Adding even more durability, the 2008 Ezzy Wave SE has a weft-stop sleeve cloth that will impressively resist tears caused by extreme forces like breaking masts.
The Ezzy Wave SE is equipped with:
- A thick mast pad that flips up for easy rigging.
- Triple-ply leech reinforcements.
- Ezzy EndoBatten construction.
- An adjustable and removable head strap.
- A removable tack pulley that can be replaced with a D-ring for those sailors that prefer a grommet.
- Printed rigging instructions on the sail.
- And of course, every sail is rigged and checked before it leaves the factory.

The 2008 Ezzy Wave SE has gone through revolutionary change. While photos of the sails look similar, the shaping and tensioning have been enhanced, allowing the sail to deliver a much more powerful low end, greater stability, and the same easy handling in transitions.

Unlike prior years Wave SE sails, more of their tuning range is achieved with the outhaul. The result is a sail that is lighter in the hands that feels great to sail!

The sails are different enough that time needs to be taken to learn their tuning range to get the most out of them.

The new Ezzy Wave sail has been redesigned with a deeper more forward draft profile versus prior year designs. This new deeper draft provides improved low end power without sacrificing top end control, speed or upper wind range. I have sailed the 4.7, 5.2 and the 6.0 sizes so far and have been thoroughly impressed with the range of these sails. They require a bit less down haul and a more outhaul versus the designs. The addition of a pulley tack fitting on the also contributes to the ease of down hauling and is an extremely well designed fitting.

On the water the sail has improved torque and power. It has continuous and balanced pull regardless of the gusty nature of the wind. The rotation in transitions is very smooth. There is a bit more pop of the battens from one tack to the other versus the model. This is due to more forward draft positioning in the sail and more batten pressure in the Endo-batten pockets. In tuning the sail I found myself adding a bit more outhaul then I expected. This additional outhaul helped to eliminate back hand pressure without compromising the low-end power. I sailed the 5.2 and 6.0 in the waves on Lake Michigan and loved them. I sailed the 4.7 and 6.0 in bump-n-jump conditions in the local Lake Mendota and was impressed with the range and comfort they provided in very gusty conditions.

Overall these are great sails with impeccable construction and one of if not the most powerful bump-n-jump / wave sail design available! Come demo these sails yourself at our new Gorge location this summer.

My sails have a very different tuning set-up than any sail I have ever designed. They are not supposed to be rigged extremely deep. Well actually they can, for super light wind, but for normal powered sailing they should be set quite flat.

The problem is how to achieve the flat setting. For most typical sails in high wind we want to downhaul a lot, which opens the head and flattens the sail by removing luff profile. Then give some outhaul to take up the clew slack. My sails are quite different in that they take much more outhaul and a bit less downhaul. I should also point out that my sails when set flat will still have a forward draft profile in the middle battens. This keeps the sails feeling balanced in overpowered sailing conditions.

In coming up with the sails I realized the limitations with the typical high-downhaul low-outhaul sails: by downhauling a lot, we are moving the draft back too much and making the leading edge too flat, which in turn makes the sail more "nervous" feeling and harder to sail. I realized that it is better not to "kill" the sail with too much downhaul, but rather to do most of the flattening with the outhaul. I designed the sails with less profile in the leech area and more profile in the luff. They are designed to be downhauled moderately, and outhauled a lot.

These sails have such a huge rigging range that they can be set to be extremely powerful, or very neutral feeling. It is all in the outhaul.

For powered sailing I suggest that you set the downhaul so the looseness between the #2 and #3 battens is just to about to the front of the printed swoosh. Then outhaul until the power is where you want it. You can put up to 7 to 8 cm of positive outhaul. The window should be very flat when looking from the end of the clew to the boom cutout.

A note on downhaul: When I explain to people about the new settings of the sails, some people are inclined to back way off on the downhaul. This is wrong. You still need to downhaul more in strong wind, you just don't want to over-downhaul. Do not go beyond the printed swoosh with your downhaul.

Ezzy offers a complete line of "RDM" or "skinny" masts, ranging from 340cm - 370cm - 400cm - 430cm - 460cm up to 490cm.
The Ezzy mast has a small diameter from top throughout the bottom.

The Ezzy RDM mast has set the standard for mast strength.
These masts give you the confidence in surf, they just don’t break.
The low breakage percentage of the mast is a perfect partner to the Ezzy Sail line, which are heralded as the most durable sails available.
Weight conscious sailors will love their feather lightweight and narrow diameter for grip.
This lightweight design (400cm is 3.5 lbs. and 91% carbon content) is partially what makes these masts to have a shockingly noticeable performance.
